A Strong Finish: The 2025 Moonlit 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run Brought the Community Together for a Night of Fun and Fitness!

On Friday, May 9, 2025, community members of all ages came together for the Moonlit 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, hosted by the Moon Area Education Foundation (MAEF). The event, held at Tiger Stadium, once again brought out runners, walkers, families, and volunteers for a night focused on fitness, fun, and giving back.
All Proceeds Support The Moon Area Education Foundation Missions:
• Fund innovative classroom grants
• Award student scholarships
• Finance STEAM initiatives
• Promote outdoor classrooms
• Enhance lifetime fitness and wellness
New for 2025: Community Cereal Drive with CCDC
A meaningful new addition this year was a cereal drive, launched in partnership with the Coraopolis Community Development Corporation (CCDC). Participants were invited to bring boxes of cereal (any kind, any size) to donate at packet pickup or on race day.
Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, we collected hundreds of cereal boxes, making a major impact toward our goal of 400 boxes and helping support local families in need.
Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to these six outstanding MAHS graduates who each received a MAEF Scholarship to continue their education. We wish them and the entire MAHS Class of 2025 the very best as they start the next chapter of their lives!
